Radiant Voices: Muslim Women's Council in Australia

The Muslim Women's Council of Victoria Inc. (previously known as the Islamic Girls & Women's Group Inc.) is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 1998. This is an organisation of Australian women working for Muslim women and the wider community. We work to overcome the challenges faced by Muslim women, living, working and integrating into the broader community in a way that honours their religious and cultural heritage. This also enriches the broader Australian community.

Empower Positive Change, Support Progress Together

The Muslim Women’s Council of Victoria relieves poverty and food insecurity for refugees, migrants, and international students. We provide essential food and social support through a culturally appropriate framework that ensures dignity. Our members work to sustain this vital safety net for all Victorians in crisis.

We empower individuals through education, language support, and settlement programs. By creating employment pathways via community enterprises like catering, we provide the professional training needed for long-term financial independence. These initiatives turn charitable support into lasting resilience and self-sufficiency.

We foster inclusion by building bridges between diverse groups and the wider public. By sharing Muslim culture and traditions, we promote mutual understanding and reduce social isolation. Through advocacy and partnership, we ensure better access to essential services and a more harmonious, supportive society.

Our Vision

A more inclusive and connected Victoria where individuals and families experiencing hardship are supported with dignity, and where poverty and food insecurity are reduced through practical community support and shared understanding.

Mission Statement

The Muslim Women’s Council of Victoria Inc. works to relieve poverty, food insecurity, and hardship by supporting individuals and families in need across Victoria.

We provide food relief, emergency assistance, education, and settlement support to help people experiencing disadvantage, including migrant Muslim women, refugees and asylum seekers.

Alongside this, we work with community partners to connect people with essential services such as housing, health, legal, and welfare support, and we promote inclusion, social connection, and understanding across diverse communities.

At the heart of our work is a simple goal: to support people in need and help build a stronger, more caring community.

Our Projects

Our programs focus on relieving poverty, reducing hardship, and supporting individuals and families experiencing disadvantage across Victoria — through food relief, settlement support, education, skills development, health and wellbeing programs, and community connection initiatives.
